New HF e-mail services, stations, networks and frequencies

New HF e-mail services, stations, networks and frequencies currently emerge virtually on a weekly basis. We do monitor them from exclusive locations spread all over the world, exchanging standard WAVECOM .w40 and .w41 files by normal e-mail.

Unlike Winlink, Airmail & Co., that convert e-mails through an UUCP gateway, the new Kiel Radio - Marinet PACTOR IP Bridge allows a direct access from shortwave radio to ALL internet servers, while accepting standard protocols - such as FTP, Telnet, POP3 and SMTP - at the same time. Needless to say, all these new frequencies will be included in our 2002 products, plus hundreds of new screenshots that can also be found on our hotfrequencies webpage updated DAILY compiled from REAL RADIO MONITORING.

One article states that "Pactor is now the favourite system for use by Humanitarian aid organisations at time of writing, and such as the ICRC, IFRC, UNHCR etc. use it as standard. In fact it is part of the IFRC automated electronic mail system. It enables Red Cross offices in areas where there are no data services, to access the electronic mailing system in Geneva and all without the aid of radio operators in the radio room. The main advantage is that, because the Red Cross have private frequencies, there are no costs to pay other than the first cost of the equipment."
