Bitte beachte die gesetzlichen Vorschriften und Statuten des DARC im deutschen Rechtsraum

NOTICE: THE INFORMATION BELOW SHOULD BE APPLICABLE TO ANY EMAIL PROGRAM.  Please Print a copy of this page for future reference, and read the entire page if you are having problems.

1. ORIGINATING A MESSAGE TO THE RADIO USER.

On the Email address "To:" line (or as a "Cc:"), put the address in the following form:

CallSign@xxx.win-net.org

Note:  The "xxx" is the 3 letter airport locator associated with the Winlink Station that handles messages for "CallSign".   In the above example, "bna" is the airport locator for Nashville, TN.   You must obtain that locator code from the ham you are communicating with.  It is shown on ALL Email messages you receive from that ham through this system.  BE AWARE that not all messages from the same ham may not come through the same WinLink radio station.  You should ALWAYS reply back to  the same RADIO USER 's address it was sent from.

THERE ARE NO SPACES ANYWHERE in an Email address.

You may use the address shown above with any Email program, store it in your address book, or reply using the reply button.

NOTICE:  This messaging system does not support "attachments".  All messages must be in "Plain Text".   Putting an attachment on a message, or sending other than plain text  will just mean that the message does not get sent by the system.

2. ADDING THE RADIO USERS'S ADDRESS TO YOUR ADDRESS BOOK:

Use the normal procedure for your Email agent.

3. The reply button works in all cases!

PLEASE GO TO YOUR EMAIL PROGRAM OPTIONS AND CHANGE THE FOLLOWING:

- TURN OFF:   HTML AND USE TEXT ONLY!!
- TURN OFF:   SENDING BACK THE ORIGINAL MESSAGE WITH A REPLY!!

the  Radio system messages DO NOT support HTML, and secondly, sending the original message back to the originator results in unnecessary overhead.  Only quote those parts of the original message, if any, that you really need to properly communicate.

4. ROUTING TO ANOTHER WinLink/NetLink STATION

This situation occurs when the ham radio operator places and retrieves his messages on a Radio Station other than a NetLink supporting station.  In that case the message must be forwarded over the ham radio system and additional addressing is required.

Example:

W8ABC*w8def.oh.usa.na@xxx.win-net.org

Unless instructed otherwise, you should always send messages to the ham using the Reply-To: address shown on your incoming Email.  That address also appears as the From: address in the message.

The above example will send a message, by ham radio, to the WinLink station supporting xxx.win-net.org. It will stay at that radio station until it is picked up by W8ABC or forwarded by the WinLink station to W8DEF.   Notice the "*" takes the place of the normally used "@" in such a case.  NO SPACES in Email addresses.

If you still need help, please contact the sysop of the WinLink/NetLink station whose Email address is shown on all NetLink messages.
